John Snead

Mr. Snead has enjoyed a 30+ year career in Corporate Finance, after completing both his B.S. Finance (1988) and MBA (1990) from Virginia Tech.

Mr. Snead’s career at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. spanned over 25 years in a wide range of Corporate Finance roles.  Mr. Snead was the Controller for the billion-dollar Industrial Chemical and Latin America/South Africa divisions of the company, while building unique skills in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and international business.  During his tenure, Mr. Snead acquired and integrated the largest independent industrial gas company in South America for $1.4 billion.

In 2016 Mr. Snead joined Polytek Development Corp., a specialty chemical company backed by middle-market private equity investors, as Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Snead led the accounting, finance, IT, HR, and purchasing functions of the company.  During his tenure, Mr. Snead successfully acquired and integrated 14 companies, growing Polytek to 10x its original size.  In 2019 he was named a CFO of the year by Lehigh Valley Business.

Mr. Snead and his wife Sandy reside in Seabrook Island, SC.  Mr. Snead’s family has a long history with Virginia Tech.  His parents John and Margaret were loyal alumni (‘Hokie spirit’ celebrated with scholarship | Pamplin College of Business | Virginia Tech (vt.edu)); two of his sisters were professors in the Pamplin College of Business; and his three sons Jake, Josh, and Nick graduated from Virginia Tech.  Mr. Snead enjoys basketball, golf, and biking.  He has coached high school and national-level AAU basketball teams, and also mentors under-represented students.
