Bill Scott

Bill Scott serves as Chief Executive Officer for the CFA Society Washington, DC. As CEO, Bill ensures the Society is effectively empowering the regional investment industry with cutting edge thought leadership, promoting strong ethical investment principles and professional standards, and facilitating a vibrant and engaged DC metro investment community.  By directly engaging with the regional investment community, CFAW’s partners, and university finance department leaders, Bill has been a champion of the investment industry and the CFA Charter since joining the society in 2016.

Bill has over 25 years of association management experience having worked for associations across a variety of industries from scientific, to medical, to financial. As a career non-profit executive, he works closely with CFAW’s Board of Directors. He annually co-hosts an investment research competition for university students and routinely speaks to students about the CFA Charter and its criticality to ensuring finance professionals have the skill to benefit their clients.

A graduate of Virginia Tech and member of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, Bill graduated in 1991 with a B.S. in Finance. He earned the Certified Association Executive designation in 2003 and is an acknowledged speaker at non-profit industry events.

A proud native of Pittsburgh, PA, Bill currently resides in Falls Church, VA, just outside of Washington, DC, with his wife Karen and their two daughters. He enjoys playing golf, cooking, traveling, and following F1 racing. He is a strong supporter of Virginia Tech and enjoys watching and attending Virginia Tech football games.
