S. Kirk Johnson, MAI

Mr. Johnson is a Co-Founder and Managing Member of Graystone Companies, LLC, a company specializing in fostering creative solutions for real estate in order to produce stunning developments with excessive returns. Graystone focuses on retail and hotel development and is structured to seize any opportunity in real estate. Kirk brings twenty-seven (27) years of commercial real estate appraisal, brokerage, consulting, development, management and ownership experience to the company and oversees property identification/acquisition, planning, financing, leasing and disposition.

Mr. Johnson is also Managing Member of CBMM, LLC, which is developing the University Crossroads project in Blacksburg, Virginia. This mixed use site includes two hotels (Hyatt Place and Residence Inn by Marriott) along with 40,000 square feet of retail space and “The Place” condo-hotel located directly across from the Virginia Tech Campus. Kirk provides the vision and leadership for overall property redevelopment and is Director of the condo-hotel Rental Program.

Kirk worked as Senior Appraiser with William C. Harvey & Associates, Inc., a commercial and residential appraisal and consulting firm serving the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, for more than 20 years. Kirk specialized in high value commercial property appraisal for litigation providing expert witness testimony for commercial, multifamily and special purpose properties. He has qualified in many courts and testified on a broad range of valuation issues including assessment appeals and condemnation.

He also has experience as a commercial real estate agent with Harvey Realty Group, LLC, a full-service real estate brokerage firm. His commercial brokerage experience includes leasing, sales and management of office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, multifamily and industrial buildings.

Kirk received a B.S. in Finance from Virginia Tech and holds the MAI designation, Member of the Appraisal Institute. He has rezoned, developed, leased and managed properties including residential subdivisions, industrial, office, hotel and retail properties. His success in real estate acquisitions/dispositions include returns in excess of 1000% and a track record of no losses for investors, partners or himself.

Kirk is active in a variety of community and business organizations. His roles include service on the Virginia Tech Department of Finance Advisory Board, the Board of Directors for the Washington DC Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and Co-Chair of the Retail Committee for the Blacksburg Partnership.
