Charles Schwab Foundation Financial Planning Scholarship
This scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students who are Finance Majors with the Financial Planning option in the Pamplin College of Business Dept of Finance. The awards will be made according to the following guidelines:
- Recipients shall be undergraduate students in PCOB who are enrolled full time at VT, in good standing, and who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- Recipients shall be Finance majors with the Financial Planning option in the 2nd semester of their sophomore year; the scholarship shall be for use in the final two years or four semesters of the recipient's undergraduate degree program.
- Preference shall be given to students who are members of an underserved population of students at VT, particularly participants of the following officially recognized, registered student organizations, or successor organizations: African Students Association, Student African American Brotherhood at VT, The National Association of Black Accountants, Student African American Sisterhood at VT, Black Students in STEM, Black Organizations Council, Black Student Alliance, and the National Society of Black Engineers.
An initial scholarship of $10,000 will be awarded in the fall semester of 2021. There shall be no GPA requirement and transfer students shall be eligible to receive the scholarship.
After the initial $10,000 scholarship awarded in fall semester of 2021, the intent of the Donor is that each eligible recipient receives a scholarship of at least $10,000 annually, with the intent to reapply for an additional $10,000 in the subsequent year if the recipient remains eligible for the scholarship. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the exact amount of the annual scholarships will be determined by available payout.
To be eligible to re-apply, a recipient shall be in good academic standing and remain in the Finance Major with the Financial Planning Option in the PCOB. The total value of the scholarship to a recipient shall be a minimum up to $20,000 over two years. Any awards made to students shall be made in accordance with accepted policies of VT's Office of USFA.
