Students build a strong foundation in financial theories, apply theoretical models to decision-making, and develop expertise in advanced financial technologies. The undergraduate program in Finance offers a Finance major with four options for curriculum focus, as well as two specialty majors.
FOUR OPTIONS, ONE MAJOR
The Undergraduate Program in Finance provides comprehensive coursework in finance, analytics, modeling, and accounting, equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in financial professions.
In addition to taking the University required courses, College required courses, and Finance courses, students majoring in Finance are also required to choose a Finance Option:

Finance Minor
Open to non-Pamplin College of Business students (except Real Estate). The Finance minor requires:
- Minimum 2.50 overall GPA
- 24 completed credit hours at Virginia Tech
- Completion of the minor’s math requirements
The minor includes 18 credit hours of Finance coursework, along with prerequisite courses in key business areas. A minimum 2.00 GPA across all required courses is needed to earn the minor.
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Analytics Minor
Designed for non-Pamplin College of Business students, the ESG minor builds expertise in financial analytics, investment strategies, corporate finance, and ESG considerations in financial decision-making. The ESG minor requires:
- Minimum 2.50 overall GPA
- 24 completed credit hours at Virginia Tech
- Completion of the minor’s math requirements
The minor requires 27 credit hours of Finance coursework, plus prerequisite courses in key business areas. A minimum 2.00 GPA across all required courses is needed to earn the minor.
