Sophie DeWaal
Sophie DeWaal is a Vice President in the Consumer & Retail Investment Banking group at Bank of America. Sophie joined Bank of America in 2014, after graduating from Virginia Tech. She spent time in both the Industrials and the Mergers & Acquisitions teams before settling in Consumer & Retail. While at Bank of America, she has advised on more than $18 billion worth of transactions including public-to-public acquisitions, sales of founder owned companies, initial public offerings and broader debt / equity financing. Some of her deal highlights include the sell side of Dunkin’ to Inspire Brands, the acquisition of Pandora by Sirius XM, the acquisition of FreshDirect by Ahold Delhaize, the leveraged buyout of At Home, and the IPO’s of Portillo’s and European Wax Center.
Sophie was named to the Forbes’ 30 Under 30 List 2022 (Finance category), an annual list produced by the global media company to spotlight the entrepreneurs and leaders under the age of 30.
Sophie graduated from Virginia Tech in 2013 with a degree in Finance (accounting focus) and a minor in equine science. While at Virginia Tech she was a member of Bonds and Securities Investing by Students (BASIS). She currently serves on the advisory board of BASIS and the Virginia Tech Finance Advisory Board.
Outside of the office, she is an amateur equestrian, pursuing competitive show jumping across the United States.
