Teaching

Dr. Billingsley's primary teaching area is in Investments and Derivatives. He has taught Executive Development courses on Investment Analysis in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
He has participated in the development and teaching of the Finance Track of a continuing education program at Pamplin. He has taught CFA review courses in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. His valuation case study has been broadly read and was assigned in Level II of the CFA Curriculum.

Research

Dr. Billingsley's research interests include investments, derivatives and risk management generally, with a special emphasis on valuation, public utility rate issues, and regulatory finance. He has published articles in many Finance journals. His recent focus is on several investment projects that overlap with his consulting experience. This includes case studies and investigative research on the telecommunications industry.

Business Experience

Dr. Billingsley has acted as a consultant to the Association for Investment Management and Research (now the CFA Institute) and many large firms. He acts as an expert witness on public utility cost of equity determination and investment-related litigation matters. He has also provided testimony sponsored by the United States Telecommunications Association (USTA), a telecommunications industry association. He has acted as a consultant for BellSouth Telecommunications, Sprint, UBS, and numerous other firms.

Service-Related Contributions

Dr. Billingsley is a Faculty Advisor for SEED and has developed a new course on equity valuation and portfolio management for that group.

Professional Achievements

Dr. Billingsley has served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Utility and Regulatory Financial Analysts. He has worked on an AIMR (now the CFA Institute) committee on Equity Valuation Methodologies. He has reviewed the Equity Valuation and Portfolio Analysis sections of the CFA Global Body of Knowledge, has served as a member of the CFA Candidate Curriculum Committee, and formerly was Vice President at the Association for Investment Management and Research.
