Biography
Professor Cabezon’s research focuses on the conflict of interest between a company’s management and the company’s stakeholders. Why do they exist, and how can we mitigate them. His work is centered on the board of directors’ role, the effects of regulations, and the flow of information across firms, as the primary mechanisms to reduce these agency problems. His current projects involve corporate governance, executive compensation, and information disclosure.
He has presented his work in major finance conferences such as the American Finance Association meetings (AFA), the Western Finance Association meetings (WFA), the SFS Cavalcade North America conference, the Midwest Finance Association conference (MFA), and the Finance, Organizations and Markets conference (FOM).
Prior to joining academia, Professor Cabezon worked for two years in the Ministry of Economics of Chile. His main responsabilities consisted on designing and excuting microeconomic policies to eliminate competitive barriers and to improve the conditions for entrepreneurship and innovation.
