Greetings to our Alumni, Current, and Prospective Students! We are glad to renew contact with those of you who have been in the Finance Program in the past and make new connections with those who are considering pursuing a career in Finance. Our goal is to serve you as you venture into your Finance careers serving others.

The Department of Finance, Insurance, and Business Law has a long-term commitment to research excellence among its faculty, including renowned experiential education for its students and doctoral students. Ongoing research activity enables the department to continuously upgrade course content to make it contemporary and relevant to modern business needs. Our faculty members stay informed of current trends and the latest research in the financial world and publish their research in top-tier finance journals.
This commitment to research allows our students to receive an education that will not only challenge them to reach beyond coursework and experiential learning, but they will develop cutting-edge skills and knowledge, to discover innovative ways to meet the complex demands in today's Finance Industry.
Our department is one of the largest departments in Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business, housing over 25 full-time faculty members, numerous adjunct faculty and Ph.D. students, and over 1,100 undergraduate students.
Starting in the summer of 2022, our undergraduate program will include 3 new majors in addition to our Finance major; those include Financial Planning and Wealth Management, FinTech and Big Data Analytics, and Real Estate Finance. Our existing Finance major will retain 4 of our options for curriculum focus including Investment Management and Chartered Financial Analyst, Risk Management & Banking, Corporate Financial Management, and Financial Accounting. Students in our programs will also have the opportunity to participate in our many student organizations that provide experiential learning beyond the classroom.
