Mr. Klock worked in the banking and brokerage industry for nearly five years in both bank management and as a personal and small business investment consultant. He was frequently called upon to teach training classes on various investing topics such as IRAs and other qualified retirement plans. He also played an active role in developing and marketing new product delivery systems for bank-based investment representatives including a qualified retirement plan platform for small businesses in conjunction with several large insurance and mutual fund companies. Since leaving banking, Mr. Klock has worked as an independent financial advisor and consultant. He has developed print and Internet financial education tools, including the co-development of personal financial planning educational software packages for collegiate-level textbooks.
Mr. Klock’s primary teaching responsibility is the introductory-level FIN 3134: Concepts and Skills course. He frequently teaches or guest lectures in various courses around campus as well as making presentations to several University groups and organizations. He has previously taught a variety of business courses including Intro to Business, Investments and Personal Finance at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA.

Mr. Klock has worked on a variety of books related to personal finance. He has previously co-authored ancillary materials for a segment-leading personal finance text and is currently a co-author on two capstone course texts; The Case Approach to Financial Planning: Bridging the Gap from Theory to Practice, and The Process of Financial Planning.
Professional Achievements
Agents License, and the National Association of Security Dealers (NASD) Series 6, 7, and 63 Registrations; as well as the Registered Financial Consultant (RFC) designation. Mr. Klock also served the nation in the military where he was twice decorated for meritorious achievement during his service as a Drill Sergeant.
Service Related Contributions
On-campus Mr. Klock serves as the Coordinator of the Pamplin Finance CFP Program and Co-advisor to the VT Financial Planning Association Student Chapter, and serves as a liaison to the Finance Department Advisory Board. He has enjoyed seven years of service to the VT Graduate Honor System. He has also periodically guided the Virginia Tech Ameriprise Collegiate Financial Planning Invitational teams, which placed second nationally in 2002, and were the national champions in both 2003 and 2007. Off-campus Mr. Klock serves the financial planning industry as a consultant to the NextGen initiative of Investment News and has previously served as a board member for the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants (IARFC) and as a reviewer for the Journal of Personal Finance.
