Biography

Nikos Artavanis is a visiting Virginia Tech from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he is an Assistant Professor of Finance on a joint appointment with Isenberg School of Management and UMass Commonwealth Honors College. His research focuses on asset pricing and financial crises. He is the recipient of the 2013 WRDS-Wharton Best Empirical Paper in Finance Award at the WFA meetings. His research is published in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and has been featured extensively in the U.S. and international financial press, including The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Economist, among others. He has received many awards, honors and grants for his research and teaching. He competed his BA and MSc in Finance and Banking at the University of Piraeus (Greece), and holds Master degrees in Economics and Mathematics and a PhD in Finance from Virginia Tech.
